It covers panelboundcomics.com (the "Site"), our emails and text messages, and any other way you deal with us.

We don't knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, health data or precise geolocation.
2. How we use it
- To process, ship and support your orders, pre-orders and back-orders, including cancellations, refunds and store credit.
- To run your account, rewards points, wishlists and reviews.
- To answer your questions and send order and shipping updates.
- To send marketing emails and texts if you opted in.
- To show you ads for our products on other sites and apps, and measure how they perform (Section 4).
- To understand and improve the Site and our selection.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, keep the Site secure, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed to run our business, with:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout and processes card payments (Shopify Payments). See Shopify's privacy policy.
- Afterpay, if you choose to pay in installments. Afterpay uses your information under its own privacy policy.
- Klaviyo, which sends our emails and text messages.
- BON Loyalty, which runs our rewards points program.
- Judge.me, which collects and shows product reviews.
- Our wishlist app, which saves the items you want to keep track of.
- Other service providers that help us run the store, such as customer support chat (Re:amaze), shipping protection, and our affiliate program.
- Shipping carriers (such as USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL) to deliver your order.
- Advertising partners such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google (Section 4).
- Authorities and others when the law requires it, to protect our rights or prevent fraud, or as part of a sale or merger of our business.
We require service providers to use your information only to provide their services to us.
4. Cookies, ads and your opt-out
We use the Meta Pixel and Google tags (including Google Ads and Google Analytics) on the Site. They tell Meta and Google what pages you visit and what you buy so we can show you our ads on their platforms and measure results. Under some state laws, including California and Texas law, this may count as "sharing" your information for cross-context behavioral advertising or "targeted advertising," and in some cases a "sale."
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not sell or share information about anyone we know is under 16.
You can opt out of this ad tracking at any time:
- Email us at JP@panelboundcomics.com with the subject "Do not sell or share my personal information."
- Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. We treat a GPC signal as an opt-out request for that browser.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the ad settings on Meta and Google. Blocking cookies may stop parts of the Site, like your cart, from working.
5. Emails and text messages
You'll only get marketing emails or texts if you sign up. Unsubscribe from email with the link at the bottom of any email. Stop texts by replying STOP. Our SMS Terms explain the text program. We never sell or share your mobile number or text-message consent with third parties for their own marketing.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including Texas (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act), California (California Consumer Privacy Act) and other U.S. states with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, and get a copy in a portable format;
- Correct information that's wrong;
- Delete your personal information;
- Opt out of targeted advertising, "sharing," and any "sale" of your information (Section 4), and of profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects (we don't do this kind of profiling);
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we don't collect it for that purpose); and
- Not be treated differently for using any of these rights. We won't deny service or charge different prices because you used them.
We give these rights to all U.S. customers, not only residents of those states.
How to make a request: email JP@panelboundcomics.com with the subject "Privacy request," and tell us which right you want to use. To protect you, we will verify your request by matching the email address and order details we have on file. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity directly.
We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you why, and we may extend once by another 45 days. Requests are free, up to twice a year.
Appeals: If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision email with the subject "Privacy appeal." We'll answer within 60 days and explain our decision. If you're a Texas resident and you disagree with our appeal decision, you can contact the Texas Attorney General at texasattorneygeneral.gov.
Some information may need to be kept even after a deletion request, for example records of orders we must keep for tax and accounting, or information needed to prevent fraud.
7. What California law asks us to list
In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone, address, IP address); customer records (billing and shipping details); commercial information (purchases, rewards points, wishlists); internet activity (browsing and interactions with the Site, ads and emails); approximate location; and inferences about your product interests. We collected them from you, your device, and the partners listed in Section 1, for the purposes in Section 2, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients in Section 3. Identifiers, commercial information and internet activity may be "shared" with advertising partners as described in Section 4.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as your account is open or as needed to fill orders and provide service. Order, tax and accounting records are kept for as long as the law requires, usually up to 7 years. Marketing information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.
9. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, and our checkout and payments run on Shopify's secure, PCI-compliant platform. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.
10. Children
The Site is meant for adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Customers outside the U.S.
We are based in the United States and your information is processed and stored in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate. If you live outside the U.S., you may have additional rights under your local law. Contact us to use them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and if a change is significant we'll tell you by email or on the Site.
